Paddock looking a bit tired? Unsure what type of grass you should be growing? Worried about worm counts? The Pony Clubs brilliant new publication ‘Pasture Management’ can help!

Pasture Management is the first book in The Pony Club titles to be devoted specifically to the important subject of grassland, when used for grazing horses and ponies. Written by Elizabeth O’Beirne-Ranelagh, the publication covers all the important topics to consider when looking to manage grazing for your mount, including the equine digestive system and how it differs from other herbivorous animals; nutritional needs; different types of grass and their suitability for horses, and good management practices such as fertilising, re-seeding, the removal of droppings, harrowing and resting.

Topical advice is also given on the prevention of many problems that can be associated with horses and ponies living at grass, such as laminitis, obesity, poisonous plants, worms, grass sickness and the ‘poaching’ of areas of ground in wet conditions. As with all Pony Club publications the text is accompanied by numerous colour photographs and line drawings, making it suitable for Pony Club Members and parents alike and is priced at a very reasonable £10.95.

There are also two additions to The Pony Clubs gift collection this spring in a Pony Club tie slide and also a mouse mat. The gold enamel tie slide, featuring the Pony Club badge, makes a lovely gift or is just a great accessory for any Pony Club Member, priced at £4.95. The Pony Club hard top mouse mat displays a fantastic montage of Pony Club images, and is priced at £3.95.
