The event, which attracted students, horse owners and employers from within the equine industry, was sponsored by Alltech, a leading name in equine nutrition and title sponsor of the FEI World Equestrian Games 2010™.

The audience enjoyed a varied programme, with speakers ranging from international show jumper, Fredrik Bergendorf, to vet Luis Lamas, a lecturer at Cambridge who looked at joint supplements. Physiotherapist and dressage trainer, Louise Broom, discussed the importance of rider fitness and how it can affect the horse’s performance, while equine nutritionist, Jon Townson, talked about equine gut health and how natural additives, such as Yea-Sacc1026® and Bio-Mos®, can enhance gut function for improved health and performance.

Based in York, Askham Bryan is the fasted growing land-based college in the country, with centres throughout Yorkshire. Kathryn Harrison, Section Leader for Equine Management was delighted with the response: “The event was designed to help bring together education and other elements of the equine industry so I’m very pleased with the wide mix of delegates who attended. The speakers were all excellent and informative and certainly left me reflecting on what I could do to maximise my horse’s performance. The feedback from the event has been very positive and I hope we can make the conference an annual event and a date in our diaries that is not to be missed.”
