Myler Bitting Days: March 2010Dale has over 25 year’s experience in bitting and is an expert loriner, making bits by hand in the family workshop in Missouri and having trained factory-workers in bit-manufacturing. Dale’s UK Bitting Days are a rare but invaluable opportunity to learn more about bitting in general, as well as the Myler System in particular. Bitting Days are being arranged by the following Myler Stockists: Sat March 13th: Frogpool Manor Saddlery, Chislehurst, Kent, 0208 300 0716 Horses have only 2 ways of communicating with us: Relaxing (and complying with our aids); or Resisting. A bit with the wrong shape or action for a particular horse will cause tension because it is uncomfortable or painful; and confusion because the rider’s signals are not clear. Effective Communication cannot be achieved with Tension and Confusion. The Myler Brothers developed their Bitting System to find a gentler, more effective way of communicating with horses. The Myler Bitting Philosphy is based on making the horse as comfortable as possible in its mouth, so it can be relaxed and concentrate on what its rider is asking it.
