Equine students at Duchy College were busy preparing a Gymkhana for all equestrian students at the college on Friday 23rd January. Forty equine students participated in the student run event, as part of their event management module.
The event was made up of a series of competitions which included horseback egg and spoon race, apple bobbing, riding through an assault course and ending in an energetic horse relay race. Student Jenny Hazeltine added: “It’s good to know how to organise an event before going into the workplace, though it’s been really hard work but the end result has been fantastic.”
Simon Scott, Course Manager said: “We encourage students to learn about event planning through practice and what better way than hosting their own event. This is the largest Gymkhana that the college has hosted and its success is down to the hard work of all the students.”
