Staff and students opened the gates at Writtle College to welcome visitors to the equine yard on Sunday 25th May.  The event was well attended and enjoyed by all the riders and officials, despite the worst of the typical Bank Holiday weather.  Due to the weather, the event created mud of near-Glastonbury proportions in some places.

Marcus Roberts, Sue Judd and Pennie Wallace, Equine lecturers at the College were the main event organisers.  Sue said: “We would like to thank all the people who made the event a success, particularly the first year equine degree students who have just completed a module in Event Management.  The students were very organised and competent while in charge.”

The one day event was open to all and had competitions for the Novice and Intermediate riders, as well as an Open competition.  The competitions were run in association with the ‘Essex Rider Cross Country League’ and rider and horse were judged on; Dressage, Show jumping and Cross Country.  The day was sponsored by the equine feeding company Simple System Ltd, who are based in Essex.

All results from the day can be viewed on the College website at Results.
