This book is full of information on common diseases and injuries, as well as equine first aid and wound management. It includes a chapter on controlling inflammation and differentiates between infectious and non-infectious diseases and their treatment.

There is also detail on relevant and current disease issues in the equine world. Common injuries are described with
information on cause, signs and symptoms and available treatment. Less common injuries are also noted but in less
detail. The information is well laid out with good use of bullets and numbering to avoid large chunks of complicated text. The figures used are clear and relevant and compliment the text well. The style of writing works well, bringing a practical edge to a scientific subject.

This book would serve well as a learning aid for learners on any level the inclusion of in-text questions and activities provides an interactive feel and a self-assessment of learning. However, some people may feel it
beneficial to have had the answers to the questions included in the book. Despite this, it would also make a
brilliant reference for anyone, such as horse owners, with an interest in equine disease and injury. Thoroughly recommended.
