Equine Behaviour: Principles and Practice is a very useful and informative scientific publication. It covers many aspects of equine behaviour and is aimed at students, trainers, riders and horse owners alike. Through the use of introduction, conclusion and referencing, its clear concise format is easy to follow. The unified format makes interesting reading material for the individual and classroom alike. Each section within the book poses questions in the form of topics for discussion that can lead onto further individual research or group discussion.

This book is not an easy read, some of the text is very in-depth, however the well illustrated text is very useful for clarification. Aspects covered within the book include Understanding Behaviour Concepts, Mechanisms of Behaviour and The Flexibility of Behaviour and its Management. Each of these topics are subcategorised, which promotes a
variety of different approaches and theories, which I found useful.

Whilst in-depth, this book was a pleasure to read. I would wholeheartedly encourage the reading of this book to any budding equestrian who yearns for a deeper understanding of their equine partner.
