This training DVD features clips from a variety of videos previously distributed by Equestrian Vision, going back to it's formation in 1986. The DVD starts with David and Karen O'Connor. They discuss the jumping position, referring to the centre of gravity, and go on to outline the approach and the importance of continuing to work on landing.

Rob Hoekstra discusses the control of the horse's speed and direction, referring to the use of forward aids and braking control. Interestingly, Rob claims that 75% of all problems come from horses not moving off the leg. Olympic medallist, Andrew Hoy and his wife Bettina Hoy provide some training on related distances. Andrew explains how the quality of the approach to the first element determines how you jump through the combination, and therefore is paramount to negotiating a combination successfully. Ludger Beerbaum demonstrates how to use some basic jumping exercises, using a placing pole in front and behind a cross pole to encourage the horse to use their back. He also discusses related distances and again provides an exercise on this. Mark Todd talks about the cross-country position, demonstrating the various cross-country style fences that you can set up in your showjumping field. He emphasises the importance of rhythm and jumping on a straight line.

Ginny Leng uses grid work exercises to focus on straightness and control. She outlines the five phases of jumping as approach, take off, suspension, moment of landing and get away. Nelson Pessoa demonstrates how to jump on the turn through a variety of exercises using a placing pole.

Lucinda Green outlines the different types of obstacles you are likely to find on a cross-country course, and discusses how to ride them. This includes fences in difficult light, combinations, jumping down hill and water jumps. Finally, we see a clip of Ian Stark on his favourite horse, Arakai. His focus is jumping exercises to improve accuracy and agility and this includes jumping corners.

Whether you're a beginner or more experienced jumper, this DVD offers a comprehensive guide to a variety of
jumping issues, encompassing showjumping and cross-country. Informative and entertaining.
